How did you go about dealing with the rock chips? I'm waffling on whether I want to do any of this on my prized CDI (overall it's very nice, and it's also pretty rare in North America given the options it has; I don't want to mess it up).
Can you share what alternative(s) to the GlowShift gauges you're considering? I'll likely be putting in an EGT gauge in one of my cars (as it's going to get a bigger power bump). The gauge will be going into vent mounted pod (hoping my wife won't notice! I'll tell her it's just a temperature gauge and ask that she let me know if it hits 1,300 degrees :-)).
Honestly, I'm not terribly happy with the OpenAuto Pro solution. It's a lot more of a closed solution than the name would imply, and many of the things I'd like to adjust simply aren't open to the user. Reaction time is slow, it loves to put pop-ups at the top of the screen that stay on for way too long, I grabbed a usb software-defined radio for it that never worked well, and the whole thing winds up being quite expensive. I might look for another software package that runs on the same device.
Great work, Mark!
I had once looked into the same Raspberry PI solution but went another direction: https://www.benzworld.org/threads/cheap-android-auto-apple-carplay-solution-to-work-with-stock-hk-system.3123324/ (I've got an HK system in BOTH my CDIs and with this solution I retain all functionality [audio is great] PLUS I am able to, and have, install a backup camera).
